i. roses in bathtubs
when i was really little my mom would arrange flowers as a hobby. she would put the flowers in the bathtub to soak, and my third grade teacher said roses breathe CO2 the same way we breathe oxygen, so my third grade self talked to them. i once caught my mom singing to them.
ii. burning roses
roses burn sometimes. their petals fall into piles of ash, and it's not pretty. no one likes watching them burn, so instead we look away, and when it's over, we take the ashes and we grieve.
iii. in case of love at first sight
run. run far away. don't let this menace consume you. do not allow it to catch up to you, and charm you into believing in it. this will take many forms, be cautious. often, it appears sleeping in a plexiglas chamber at petsmart.
iv. feeling
sit in your feeling, you said to me once. you told me to wallow and to think, and only then to act. i fear that i have found the first and second parts rather easy. the third, admittedly, a bit scary.
v. fall in love
fall in love willingly
fall in love easily
fall in love frequently
fall in love as a trust exercise,
if they drop you, don't trust them.
fall in love as a second job,
work on it,
put thought into it,
be fulfilled by it.
vi. smoke
billows from the chimney stock. colored pink. it dances in the wind, bent and contorted by the breeze. i look at you, and you are instead looking at me. i draw your attention to it. you are still looking at me. and suddenly. I am seeing you.
